Melody Thompson is a native Detroiter, entrepreneur, educator, licensed cosmetologist and self taught barber.
Realizing early in life that she was creative and had a passion for serving she enrolled in Virginia Farrell Beauty School where she earned a license in cosmetology. Crafting a variety of skills in this field allowed her to put her daughter through Tuskegee University earning her B.S in Biology. It was during this time as a full time mother and entrepreneur that she entered WSU to further her education, inspire her daughter in continued education and to position herself to serve the community. Through hard work and perseverance she gradated from WSU earning a B.S in education.
When she’s not educating and grooming, she spends quality time raising her 15 year old son and volunteering grooming services at a youth center in Detroit, Michigan. It was through this act of service and the growing need to guide and serve our at risk youth that Grooming Boys To Men LLC was born.
